THIS IS THE STORY OF THE TEA-FARMING FAMILY ROOTED IN KIRISHIMA, KAGOSHIMA, JAPAN
A boarding pass to Kirishima
BOARDING
PASS
Let's take a little tea trip.
A boarding pass-shaped organic sencha tea bag, created together with Kagoshima Airport. Tear along the perforated line, and the aroma of first-flush sencha rises to meet you. One cup of tea invites you to Kirishima.
"Behind the scenes of how a single cup of tea is born."
From planting to harvest, a tea tree takes about five years. Nurtured by Kirishima's volcanic soil, wind, light, and humidity, the leaves shift in character through the seasons — from the first flush to the third, and on to the deeper flavors of autumn and winter. Harvest is not the end, but the beginning of the story. Steaming, rolling, drying, firing — each step advances with sharpened attention to temperature and aroma. In a quiet tension, nature and craft meet, and a single cup takes its form.
This year, once again, we bring you the first flush grown at the foot of the Kirishima mountains. Nurtured by volcanic soil and pure mountain water, we have crafted this season's freshness into two distinct sencha. Enjoy a flavor found only in the first picking of the year.
"A story of one family and their tea garden, woven across three generations."
Nestled in the mountains of Kirishima, this is the story of one family. In the 1940s, a small venture that began with livestock farming carried on across three generations, nurtured by fog, wind, and earth. A roasting factory born from a cattle shed; a second-generation son who returned with an engineering background; and a single cup of open-field tea that drew back the son who had vowed never to take over. As people, land, and memory layered together, a maison took shape. This is where the story begins.
Our concept, "I want the afterglow of Kirishima to linger on." comes from a simple wish.
The memories you carry from visiting Kirishima— the wind of Kagoshima, the warmth of its people, the feeling of being welcomed by a gentle hometown.
Moments when you think of your family, your loved ones, or someone you wish to reach out to.
In those quiet, nostalgic moments, we hope that a cup of Imamura Tea will let you feel that afterglow once again.
We are committed to sharing the beauty of Kirishima tea and the richness of its natural landscape with people all around the world.
Like the resonance after a bell is struck, the sound fades, but something still lingers in the air. We call that yoin — the afterglow.
